New Water Treatment Plant for Ferryland

The town of Ferryland celebrated its new water treatment plant with a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 13, 2022.

Previously, the town had chlorinated water for 30, 35 years, and it’s always been a cloudy, mucky kind of water. The water treatment plant now that takes all the sediment out of the water, and residents finally have clear water.

For the treatment facility and filtration system, the town entered into an 80/20 cost sharing agreement with the provincial government on the million-dollar project. The town was also responsible for any cost overruns so it was an investment of more than $200,000 by the town.
